1966 Shelby 427 Competition Cobra with Factory
Dry Sump. V.I.N. CSX 3020 1 of 22 Competition Roadsters and reportedly only one of three that received a Dry System. The 427 Cobra competition car was going to be Carroll Shelby’s secret weapon for 1965. Stuffing a 427 Ford NASCAR engine into a Cobra chassis appeared to be the solution for the additional horsepower needed to beat Ferrari. The 427 Cobra was as powerful an automotive statement as a manufacturer could make, Shelby felt no need to get cute with a clever name for the racing version. It was called the “competition model,” “competition version” or simply referred to as the “427 Cobra Competition”. 3020 has received awards for “Best Cobra” at two Shelby American Automobile Club meets, Listed in the Shelby American World Registry-1997, and was featured on TNN “My Classic Car Video Magazine. |

1967 GT 500 Shelby Mustang 427 Shelby “Super Snake” V.I.N.
67402F4A00544 1 of 1 built. 26,304 miles. Special model built at Shelby American for Mel Burns Ford. Intended to be the first of 50 but no other Super Snake was built due to the retail price of $7,500 and a 427 Cobra could be bought for roughly the same amount. Driven by Carroll Shelby at Goodyear test track in Texas for tire promotion film production. Carroll recorded lap speeds over 150 mph and top speed of 170 mph! The Snake has been carefully detailed and would do great in any show but its uniqueness will always set it apart no matter were it goes. Appeared on the Nashville Network “My Classic Car Video Magazine” 1/21/96. Listed in the Shelby American World Registry-1997 and the subject of so many articles that Jeff Ford (editor of Mustang Monthly) said “that the car has staple holes in its belly button”. Add one more hole due to the article in Mustang Monthly in August of 1997. |

1970 Plymouth Road Runner Superbird, 426
Hemi 2-4V V.I.N. RM23-ROA-162316 1 of 93 produced. Plymouth, seeing the success of the Dodge Charger Daytona, decided to create a much similar aerodynamic model. Thus came the Plymouth Road Runner Superbird for the 1970 season. The Superbird won more races than the Daytona, even with less race entries under its belt. Like the Daytona, the Superbird would be a one season show, as NASCAR made the winged cars tune down to a 305-ci max engine in 1971. |

All aluminum body identical to the original body and frame that Shelby used. This car was built by the craftsman at Cobra Restorers (Chuck Gutke) Kennesaw, Ga. Has the original windshield from Bill Kemper in Michigan. Original hood and scoop from Metal crafters in N.H. All details meticulously scrutinized. Top, side curtains, tonneau and seats upgraded to supple leather. Dash, side door pockets, bulkhead to trunk are covered in leather (very aromatic) Wilton wool carpet. Heater defroster, heat shielding, rubber guards installed in wheel well to stop rock chip damage, chip guard on rear fenders (clear) almost undetectable. Trunk mount battery. Chrome roll bar, high temp exhaust coating, fire suppressant system. Engine bay is very high quality throughout. Salisbury independent rear, aluminum 3:54. Trans is a new big top loader NASCAR with 2:74 1st gear (never used). The 458 inch 720 H.P. aluminum head side oilier engine was built by Curt Vogt of Cobra Automotive. The engine was balanced and blueprinted port matched 10:5 to 1 compression topped off with two 660 cfm Carbs and twin Paxton Super Chargers. Super chargers do not come into the picture until 3300 rpm so it drives like any other big block Cobra until you put your foot in it. Runs at 83 C on the highway 100 C in traffic. Idling for a long time with out any worry of overheating. Throttle is backed off ¼ to stop excessive wheel spin in all gears. It hooks if you do not stab the throttle. Could go to bigger rubber. The owner is 57 years old and does not care about laying rubber , so he did not drive it all that aggressively. The car handles very sedately with no harshness in the suspension. Has a vintage Lakewood scattershield, B F Goodrich Comp T A‘s. Carefully engineered by the best craftsmen money can buy. Runs very crisp and strong. Engine has only 600 miles and car has 2500 miles. This is a car that is way beyond the basic Kirkham that now sells for $85,000.00 This is a serious machine that careful evaluation of driving skill is strongly advised. |
